Light Metals

We supply the following materials of this group:

  • Beryllium
  • Magnesium
  • Titanium

Metals are characterised as light metals if their specific weight is below 4.5 g/cm3. Light metals used in industry due to their low specific weight often show good ductility and water resistance, as well as corrosion resistance.

Light metals and their alloys are, for instance, often applied in aircraft construction and aerospace engineering, in the chemical industry, in motor production, automotive engineering, nuclear power engineering, or medical engineering.

For example, beryllium is used in optical precision instruments, x-ray tubes and detectors as well as in high-quality contact springs. Magnesium has several possible applications, including usage as an ingredient in forgeable aluminium alloys and in cast aluminium alloys. It also serves as a structural material for gearboxes and crankcases, and for automotive body construction. Titanium is applied, amongst other things, in the chemical industry for the production of heat exchangers, tubes, tanks, and components for pumps, and in the aircraft industry and aerospace industry for components.
